On October 1, 2024, the Air India Group announced the completion of the operational and legal integration process of Air India Express Ltd and AIX Connect Pvt Ltd (formerly AirAsia India). The newly merged entity expects to increase its fleet to over 100 aircraft by the end of the current financial year, with an extensive network covering India, the Gulf region, and Southeast Asia. Following this process, the next step will be the merger of Vistara with Air India, scheduled for November 12, 2024. This merger aims to further strengthen Air India's position as a market leader in the aviation industry, both in India and internationally.
